I'm Elnoir, an artist from Aosta. My music is a blend of dark pop, Trip Hop, and cinematic soundscapes. My work is deeply personal, and my debut album *Alias* reflects my journey of confronting past traumas. In addition to my solo work, I've contributed as a ghostwriter for various artists. My first single, *Collision*, charted in the top 150 daily in Belgium, marking an important milestone in my career.
What is the story behind song Elnoir - Hades?
*Hades* is a personal exploration of betrayal and toxic emotions that arise after experiencing abuse. I used the figure of Hades as a symbol of power and vengeance, depicting the struggle for control and the desire to reclaim my identity. It's a raw portrayal of how anger can become a source of empowerment, pushing back against the helplessness that comes from being wronged. The song reflects not just personal pain, but the universal struggle for justice and self-worth.
What should people take away, gain, realize after listening and watching music video?
I want people to feel the intensity of the emotions behind the song—anger, power, and liberation. The visual elements of the video reflect the infernal, mythological world of Hades, but also symbolize the inner conflict between destruction and rebirth. Viewers should walk away feeling empowered to confront their own demons and claim their inner strength, just as the protagonist of the song does.
When and where was the video clip shot?
The video was filmed in early 2023 at Citylab 971, an industrial space that perfectly captured the dark, urban aesthetic I envisioned for *Hades*. The location helped create a sense of otherworldliness that aligns with the mythological themes of the song.
How many people worked on the production of the video clip?
A core team of about 10 people worked on the video. This included directors, cinematographers, set designers, makeup artists, and production assistants. Each member of the team was essential in bringing the vision of *Hades* to life, contributing their expertise to every detail, from lighting to choreography.
What interesting thing happened to you during the animated of the video clip?
One of the most stressful moments during the shoot was when the makeup bag for the dancers got stuck in an elevator! We were on a tight schedule, and it seemed like the whole shoot might fall apart. Thankfully, the team managed to retrieve the bag just in time, and everything came together perfectly for the dancers' performance.
With what technique was the clip shot?
The video was shot using a combination of digital and analog techniques, giving it a gritty, timeless look. We wanted to create something visually arresting that complements the song's dark and mythological undertones. The mix of styles helped us achieve a raw, textured feel that enhances the narrative of the song.
What topics do you like to address in your stories?
I often explore themes of trauma, identity, inner strength, and rebirth. My writing is personal but also speaks to universal emotions—things like pain, loss, and the search for self-empowerment. I like to create music that tells a story not just of struggle but of overcoming and reclaiming one's power.
What is your motivation in your work?
My motivation comes from a need to turn personal pain into something empowering. Music has always been a way for me to process difficult emotions and experiences, and I want my songs to inspire others to confront their own struggles. Every time I write or perform, I'm reminded of the healing power of art, both for myself and my listeners.
Who supports you in your career?
My producer, Pierre Baudin, has been a crucial part of my journey. He understands my vision and helps me bring it to life, both in terms of sound and production. Additionally, my family and close friends have always been there for me, offering emotional and creative support.
Who is your greatest role model?
Bishop Briggs has been a huge influence on me. I admire her for the way she channels raw emotion into her music and for her ability to blend vulnerability with strength. Her authenticity as an artist has always inspired me to be true to myself in my music.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
My greatest achievement so far has been the release of my debut single *Collision*, which charted in the top 150 daily in Belgium. This moment felt like a validation of all the hard work I had put into my music, and it gave me the confidence to push forward with the release of *Alias*.
What projects do you plan in the future?
I'm currently working on a series of live performances with new visual concepts that align with the cinematic themes of my music. I'm also developing new material that will expand on the themes explored in *Alias*, with plans to collaborate with other artists and experiment with different sounds.
